Vanuatu is a beautiful pristine country that has very few serious plant and animal insects and diseases that are damaging the agriculture and the environment.
Bringing in Goods to Vanuatu
In many countries there are much more destructive animal and plant pests and diseases that are not present in Vanuatu. Biosecurity Vanuatu is ensuring that these organisms do not enter Vanuatu. These organisms could enter Vanuatu border through fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh meat products and goods. Therefore, all of these products are subject to Biosecurity inspections at the borders. Aircraft passengers MUST declare all the plant and animals products that they have in their possessions on arrival to the Biosecurity Officers at the Airport. Failure to declare these products will result in an on the spot fine with a minimum of 35,000 vt or 400 $ US.
If you are a passenger travelling on cruise ships, yachts and cargo boats must not bring in any food, plants and animals from the vessels ashore. Failure to comply with these rules can also result in severe penalties.
Biosecurity Vanuatu MUST protect Vanuatu agriculture and environment against the introduction of foreign organisms. Therefore, Biosecurity laws are strictly enforced at the borders such as; Artefacts (woods, shells, plant materials) must be sprayed before taking them onto the plane. 2/ Cooked foods need an information paper and a certificate from the office.
As an island nation, Vanuatu is relatively free from major pest and diseases that are found in other countries. It is of vital importance to maintain this relatively pest free status. Please help us keep it that way by observing the following information.
On arrival you will be given a form to fill in. This is a legal document and must be filled in correctly. A yes for "Have" and a no for "Don't Have".
A Quarantine officer is available at all times should you require further information on quarantine issues.

Taking Vanuatu Goods Back Home
To ensure that you are able to bring your Vanuatu purchased goods back into your home country. Check your countries restrictions for imported products.
You can also organise to have your products sprayed at the Port Vila Airport and receive a certificate to state that your products have been treated prior to arrival into your home country.
