What to Bring

It's always a good idea to be prepared when travelling to the outer islands of Vanuatu as services are limited and everything is more expensive outside of Port Vila.

See the list below for some ideas:

  • Local Cash (only 2 ATM machines located in Lenakel Town and most small operators won't have credit card facilities)
  • Walking or covered shoes
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Light raincoat & Umbrella
  • Reef Walking Shoes
  • Diving Gear (snorkels and fins)
  • Spare Batteries
  • Back up Battery for Phone or Camera
  • Warmer clothes for the volcano and cooler nights
  • Rash vest and shorts for swimming (bathers can be used in the resorts but in the village areas its best to cover up)
  • Well charged Battery or Solar Torch
  • Water Filter Bottle (save buying plastic bottles)
  • Snacks (shops are limited especially on the east side of Tanna)
  • First Aid Kit & Medications
  • Small Padlock
  • Toilet Paper if planning on hiking.
  • Power Adaptor for Vanuatu (outlets are the same as Australia & NZ)
